Ayyana Mane

Streaming service ZEE5 announced its expansion into the Kannada market with its first-ever original mini-series, “Ayyana Mane.” The seven-episode supernatural crime drama is set to premiere exclusively on the platform on April 25th, 2025.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Ramesh Indira and produced by Shruthi Naidu Productions, “Ayyana Mane” promises a chilling narrative blending mystery, family secrets, and supernatural elements. Set against the evocative backdrop of 1990s Chikmagalur, the series stars Kushee Ravi, Akshya Nayak, and Manasi Sudheer.

The story follows Jaji (Kushee Ravi), a newlywed bride who enters her husband’s ancestral home, the imposing Ayyana Mane. She soon discovers a disturbing history tied to the family: three previous daughters-in-law have met mysterious deaths, seemingly linked to the family deity, Kondayya. What begins as a new chapter quickly descends into a nightmare filled with whispers of curses, unsettling coincidences, and dark traditions. As Jaji, aided by the family maid Taayavva and police officer Mahanthesh, delves deeper into the house’s secrets, she must confront whether a malevolent force is at work or if a human hand is behind the terror, all while fighting for her own survival.

A ZEE5 spokesperson highlighted the strategic move into Kannada content, stating, “Kannada cinema has a rich legacy… Ayyana Mane is a perfect example of this—a crime drama infused with supernatural suspense, set in the breathtaking yet enigmatic town of Chikmagalur… We’re excited to expand our regional content slate… and Ayyana Mane is just the beginning.” The spokesperson also emphasized the use of authentic locations and high-tech visuals to create an immersive, haunting atmosphere.

Director Ramesh Indira shared his vision for the series: “With Ayyana Mane, I wanted to create more than just a mystery; I wanted to take the audience on a journey where fear, faith, and family secrets intertwine… This story is deeply rooted in Kannada culture… The eerie ’90s setting adds to the tension, making the house feel like a character.” He praised the cast and producer Shruti Janardhana Naidu for bringing the haunting vision to life.

Lead actress Kushee Ravi described her experience playing Jaji as entering a “beautifully woven nightmare.” She elaborated, “She starts off as an innocent, loving wife… but as eerie events unfold, her quiet curiosity becomes her greatest strength—and possibly her biggest danger… Ayyana Mane isn’t just a mystery; it’s an emotional rollercoaster.”
