In a promising development for the Kannada film industry (Sandalwood), the producers behind two of 2024’s notable successes, Blink and Shakahari, have announced a collaboration to bring the much-anticipated film Edagaiye Apaghatakke Karana (EAK – transl. “Left Hand is the Cause of the Accident”) to theatres. Ravichandran AJ, producer of Blink, and Rajesh Keelambi, producer of Shakahari, are pooling their resources to ensure the film, starring Diganth, gets a proper release.

The film, which marks the directorial debut of Samarth Kadkol who also initially shouldered production responsibilities, had faced release delays. However, the project has received a significant boost with Ravichandran AJ stepping in as distributor and Rajesh Keelambi joining as a co-producer. This collaboration breathes new life into EAK, which had previously generated buzz but was awaiting release.

Ravichandran AJ will distribute the film under his banner, Janani Pictures. Rajesh Keelambi, who hadn’t taken up a new project since Shakahari, expressed his enthusiasm, suggesting the film’s strong content convinced him to come aboard. “After Shakahari, I wasn’t planning to co-produce a film that was already completed or awaiting release,” said Keelambi. “But the content and quality of Edagaiye Apaghatakke Karana are outstanding. I believe this film will enhance my production house’s value. When we produced Blink and Shakahari, we were both relatively new producers. Now, our combined experience will be a great asset to this film.” Keelambi also noted he is an admirer of lead actor Diganth.

The decision comes at a time when releasing films presents significant challenges, making the producers’ commitment to EAK particularly noteworthy. Both producers reportedly watched the film and were impressed enough to back its release.

Director Samarth Kadkol expressed his happiness with the development: “I am extremely pleased that the producers of two super-hit films, Blink and Shakahari – movies people are still talking about – have collaborated for my film. Their joining hands to release Edagaiye Apaghatakke Karana brings immense strength to our team.”

Ravichandran AJ commented, “I’ve had the chance to watch many Kannada films over the last six months, and EAK genuinely stands out as one of the best. Our banner, Janani Pictures, has proudly distributed several acclaimed films including BTS, Nodidavaru Enantare, Anamadeya Ashok Kumar, and Bhava Teera Yana. We are excited to distribute EAK and believe it will be a successful film in 2025.”

Edagaiye Apaghatakke Karana has already sparked interest through its posters and teaser, showcasing popular actor Diganth, often known for his romantic roles, in a different light. The film also features Nidhi Subbaiah and Dhanu Harsha as the female leads.

With this powerful new backing, Edagaiye Apaghatakke Karana is expected to announce its release date soon and hit cinema screens shortly.
