The effect of the Covid-19 outbreak has undoubtedly had a tremendous effect on the many medical practitioners in hospital at the frontline, battling the spread of the virus.
The global shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) has forced our frontline heroes to work under stressful conditions leading to fatigue, dehydration, and headaches.
In hospitals across Bengaluru City, these medical practitioners are struggling to conserve the already limited resources available to them.
With 1900 beds at Victoria hospital to treat patients who have tested positive for Covid-19, the Hospital has recorded over 42 COVID19 patient cases in the last few weeks. There are a number of doctors in the hospital who are at the frontline of the battle against the virus and in dire need of medical equipment to effectively treat and help mitigate the risks of further spread of the virus.
In an attempt to support these medical professionals at Victoria Hospital, two Bengaluru- based nonprofit organizations – Mantra Social Services and Surya Foundation in association with the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka and the Indian Red Cross Society are donating 75 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the hospital.
The Government of Karnataka set up the Covid-19 Response Task Force as the nation went into lockdown in late March 2020. This was to channel support from individuals and organizations across the state to aid the Government’s efforts in minimising risks and making essential commodities available to vulnerable communities, Puneeth M, a volunteer said.
As part of this effort, Mantra Social Services and Surya Foundation have already supported 45 frontline Health professionals with PPE kits and supplied nearly 3000 masks and sanitizers to 3 hospitals in Bengaluru.
Zerodha Supports Victoria Hospital with 75 PPE Kits
Zerodha Supported the COVID-19 relief work initiative of distributing 75 PPE kits to the front line workers – Doctors at Victoria Hospital.
Even with extensive efforts to support our hospitals and health workers during this distressed time, the lack of ventilators, PPE Kits and N95 Masks continue to put a large number of practitioners on the front in a difficult situation. The need for urgent action to support our doctors is felt more than ever as we work globally towards curbing the spread of the virus.
