Karnataka High Court on Friday granted the bail plea of actresses Sanjana Galrani in connection with a case related to the alleged drug abuse in the Kannada film industry.
On medical grounds, Actress Sanjana Galrani had been granted bail by the High Court. The actress was in judicial custody for last 84 days in Parapana Agrahara Central Prison. As Sanjana was accused by the Central Crime Branch(CCB) of procuring and supplying drugs to people who attended high profile parties.
As Justice Sreeniwas Harish kumar has given bail on condition. Court directs to communicate order to Jail Authorities today itself. Sanjana Galrani is expected to released on bail by today evening or tomorrow morning.
Court imposes conditions that Sanjana Galrani to be released on bail subject to execution of personal bond of Rs 3,00,000 with two sureties. She has to mark her attendance twice every month and has to co-operate with investigation.
As the Bench begins hearing the matter, Government Advocate VG Tigadi made submissions on the medical report. Court had earlier directed for a detailed medical checkup of Sanjana Galrani.
Actress Sanjana Galrani was reportedly taken into custody based on a suo motu case registered by at the Cottonpet police station. The police filed a case on the basis of allegedly consuming and supplying banned narcotic substances at parties and events.
Also the actress was booked under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS Act), and the Indian Penal Code.
The complaint against actress Sanjana Galrani was that she had formed a team in order to procure various narcotics from various states and foreign countries. It was alleged that Sanjana and her team would sell the narcotic substances at various farm houses, 5-star hotels, clubs, pubs etc, as per the reports.
