Actor Mithra is undergoing a significant transformation, leaving behind his comedic persona for a more sinister image. With over 100 films to his name and a large following from his iconic roles in sitcoms and comedy serials, Mithra has decided to reveal his ‘villainous’ side to the audience.
A photoshoot by cameraman Abhimanyu Sadanandan and stylist Kanmani featuring Mithra is going viral. In the shoot, Mithra is seen in various getups, portraying a gangster and other villainous characters. According to Mithra, this is a deliberate effort to reinvent his image. “The television show Silly Lalli gave me a comedy image that took 4-5 years to shake off. While it’s true that I gained recognition for my comic roles, I want to show the world that I am not just a comedian. Given the chance, I can perform any kind of role. People even appreciated my sentimental role in Raaga,” he said.
Mithra’s recent appearance in director Gurudutt Ganiga’s film Karavali has generated a lot of buzz. “It is a special role. I am now stuck with the beard I grew for it, but it’s turning out to be a blessing. It suits the negative roles I want to pursue,” he explained. Mithra has also completed shooting for Ela Kunni and is preparing to shoot with Duniya Vijay in an as-yet-untitled period film directed by Jadesh Hampi. “Director Jadesh has given me a special role, and I hope to make a big impact with it,” Mithra added.
With these new projects, Mithra aims to showcase his versatility and prove that he can excel in a variety of roles beyond comedy. His fans eagerly anticipate seeing this new, darker side of his talent.
