Get set to watch Challenging Star Darshan Thoogudeepa, as Duryodhana in Munirathna’s Kurukshetra this April 5. It is a confirmed news, as the movie producer has announced the release date on Monday.
Director Naganna has helmed the mythological drama ‘Kurukshetra’, which is the 50th movie of Darshan. The film has been in the making for quite some time now. There was no news about its release date, Everyone had a doubt whether Yajamana or Kurukshetra getting released first.
Rebelstar Ambareesh last film will be Kurukshetra
Rebelstar Ambareesh will be seen essaying a role of Bheeshma in Kurukshetra, it will be his last movie on bigscreen. Though the film’s shooting was wrapped up several months ago, there was no news about its release date. Finally, there is a confirmation from Munirathna who bankrolled this project, which has its 2D and 3D avatar of the movie ready this April 5th.
Filming began on 6 August 2017 with the official launch being held on the same day. A major portion of the filming was done at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. The film is planned for release in June or July 2019 and in both 2D and 3D formats. This is the final movie by the late actor Ambareesh.
Darshan plays Duryodhana in this historical based on the epic Mahabharata and the story is told from his perspective. One of the most expensive films to ever be made in the Kannada film industry, Kurukshetra is being bankrolled by Muniratna under his banner KCN Movies.
Kurukshetra movie has biggest starcast in Kannada cinema
The film has a bevy of stars in the cast including Ambareesh, Arjun Sarja, V Ravichandran, Nikhil Kumar, Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, Sneha, Hariprriya, Meghana Raj and P Ravi Shankar. Kurukshetra has an impressive line-up with Sneha playing Draupadi, Arjun Sarja playing Karna, Saikumar as Shakuni, P Ravishankar as Dushasana and Srinivasa Murthy as Dronacharya.
Made with ensemble starcast, Jayanan Vincent has cranked the camera for the film with Jo Ni Harsha doing the editing. Being a high budget film and a historical, plans are on to release it in various languages including Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and others.

Made on a budget of Rs 150 crore, Kurukshetra is one of the most expensive films to ever be made in the Kannada film industry. V Harikrishna has composed music for this magnum opus and the soundtrack of the album will have four songs. Also Kurukshetra’s audio will hit the market soon with a mega event.
Darshan’s Yajamana also ready for its release
Fans have to wait for a treat from Darshan, after a long gap back to back two movies of the star is releasing. But Yajamana movie also starring Rashmika Mandanna and Tanya Hope opposite Darshan is yet to announce the release date. The movie is bankrolled by Shylaja Nag and B Suresh is all set for release. We have to wait and watch which movie will be released first.
