Kannada cinema’s Real Star Upendra was in Mysuru to unveil the trailer of I Am God, a film directed, produced, and acted in by his protégé Ravi Gowda.
The trailer launch event drew attention as the songs of I Am God had already created a buzz online. Known for his connection with Upendra, Ravi Gowda trained under the star during the making of Uppi 2. Inspired by his mentor, he has now realized his long-time dream of directing and acting in his own film.
Speaking at the launch, Upendra expressed his appreciation for the trailer, recalling how passionate and curious Ravi was during the filming of Uppi 2. “He was always eager to learn every aspect of filmmaking,” the Real Star said, praising his student’s growth.
Sharing his journey, Ravi Gowda said, “When I decided to make films, I didn’t want to go to any film school — I wanted to learn directly from Uppi Sir. I approached him, requested guidance, and he took me in.”
On promoting the film, he added with humility, “We won’t say we’ve worked hard and ask people to watch I Am God. But in every group, there’s someone who watches Kannada movies every Friday — just call them and ask what they think of I Am God. That’s enough for us.”
The I Am God trailer hints at a gripping suspense thriller with a love story, featuring traces of Upendra’s trademark narrative style and visual flair.
The film stars Ravi Gowda and Vijetha in lead roles, with Ravishankar, Avinash, Arun Balraj, and Niranjan Kumar in key supporting parts. Music is composed by Ajanesh Loknath, cinematography by Jithin Das.
I Am God is set for a statewide release on November 7.
