Namit Malhotra’s magnum opus, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, promises a grand retelling of India’s greatest epic with a stellar cast, cutting-edge visual effects and a global release in Diwali 2026.
The makers of Ramayana: Part 1 have released a breathtaking new trailer, offering audiences their most immersive look yet at one of the most ambitious cinematic projects ever mounted in Indian cinema. Packed with stunning visuals, larger-than-life action and emotional storytelling, the trailer introduces the timeless battle between righteousness and evil on an unprecedented scale.
Produced by Namit Malhotra under Prime Focus Studios, in association with the Oscar-winning VFX powerhouse DNEG and Monster Mind Creations, the film is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari. The epic will release worldwide during Diwali 2026, with Sony Pictures handling the global distribution and Dharma Productions distributing the film across North India.
Drawing inspiration from the revered Indian epic Ramayana, the film reimagines one of humanity’s greatest stories through state-of-the-art filmmaking while preserving its spiritual and emotional essence. The narrative follows Lord Rama’s extraordinary journey as he stands against Ravana in a battle that defines the triumph of truth, courage and dharma.
The film features an ensemble cast led by Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, while Rocking Star Yash portrays the formidable Ravana and also serves as co-producer through Monster Mind Creations. Sai Pallavi stars as Sita, Ravi Dubey as Lakshmana, with veteran actor Arun Govil as King Dasharatha, Shobana as Kaikesi, Ajinkya Deo as Sage Vishwamitra, Kunal Kapoor as Lord Indra, and Rakul Preet Singh as Shurpanakha.
The screenplay has been penned by National Award-winning writer Shridhar Raghavan, while the musical score brings together two legendary composers—Academy Award winner A.R. Rahman and Hollywood maestro Hans Zimmer—marking a landmark collaboration between Eastern and Western musical traditions.
